This two-day trip pairs Chefchaouen's blue medina with the gorges hidden behind it. Day one drives north from Casablanca and hands guests the afternoon and evening in the old town: the fountain on Plaza Uta el-Hammam, the octagonal minaret of the Grand Mosque, the spring at Ras El Ma and the sunset climb to the Spanish Mosque, followed by a night in a traditional riad. Day two swaps cobbles for trail, with a short drive to Akchour in Talassemtane National Park, a river-valley hike to the natural rock arch known as the Bridge of God, and lunch in the mountains before the run back to the coast.
The drive north leaves the Atlantic behind and climbs steadily into the Rif, with breaks along the way. Chefchaouen appears folded into the mountainside in the afternoon.
Duration: 5 hours with stops
